How do I install the software I downloaded?
Technically there is no installation process. All you need to do is un-Zip or Un-Stuff the downloaded package and save its content on your hard drive. This makes it convenient to move your setup to other computers.

Why is Neuromixer software free?
Neuromixer represents a line of tools created by VJ_Fader. The goal is to let other users benefit from these video manipulation tools and be captivated by the fun of VJing. Hopefully there will be a growing number of people identifying with Neuromixer and use it at gigs or home.
There are plans to commercialize Neuromixer line of products, Summer of year 2005 for a nominal charge; to better serve its customers. This will help better serve Neuromixer users and further develop other innovative VJ software and hardware.

Why is Neuromixer crashing often on my machine?
Crashing may caused by many factors and often difficult to pin point. It can be caused by driver conflicts, slow CPU and RAM performance, or software conflicts. Please report your problem as they arise so your problem can be resolved.
Here are things that might cause crashing:
1.Running other graphics software along with Neuromixer
2.Slower computer with low RAM memory
3.Older graphics card
4.Unstable movie codec
5.Computer been running other applications prior to launching Neuromixer

Why does the video play so slow and choppy?
If your FPS count drops below 10, your video playback will be noticeably choppy. It takes a lot of processing power to play video on a personal computer. There are some factors might be the causes to slow video playback:
1.Slow CPU and graphics card
2.File or image size is large
3.Running other application at the same time
4.Applying many effects or compositing
5.Fragmented hard drive

Here are some things you can try to optimize your computer:
1.Re-render your video files to Quicktime Video codec (please read below for more info)
2.Restart the computer before running Neuromixer
3.De-fragment the hard drive where your media is located
4.Only turn on the effects you are using
5.Use a newer computer

What Quicktime movie codec are recommended?

For best image quality: please try Photo JPEG or Motion JPEG formats with 100% quality, 30 FPS, at 320 by 240 pixels. For best performance: Please try VIDEO codec with key frame every 1 second, 100% quality at 320 by 240 pixels.

If running only one video channel, you can try rendering video size at 640 by 480 pixels, or try Quicktime DV/DV CAM format. If there is an audio track, you may render it uncompressed at 44 khz, 16 bit stereo.

For Mac users: before recording, please drag and drop a folder into the Sampler settings box. All your samples will be saved into that folder.

For PC users: the sampled recordings are saved inside a supplied folder titled “recordings”. If you have changed the folder name or moved this folder, please create a new folder and give it the same name.
